Mexican Coffee (Café de Olla)

Cafe de Olla is a fragrant coffee very typical in Mexico. Ordinary black coffee is transformed into an explosion of flavors thanks to the spices added to this delicious coffee!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 l water
  • 1 big piloncillo (or 8 small ones)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • peel of half an orange
  • 50 g ground coffee
  • 1 allspice berry
  • 1 clove

Method
 

  1. Boil the water and dissolve the piloncillo in it.
  2. Once the piloncillo is dissolved add all other ingredients and boil at a soft boil for 2 minutes.
  3. Strain the coffee and serve it.

Notes

The coffee is best enjoyed with some Mexican Conchas or Cinnamon Cake
Rompope (Mexican Egg Nog) tastes very nice in Café de Olla.
